The True Church

(Download ".pdf" lesson)

According to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity (CSGC) at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, there are approximately 41,000 Christian denominations and organization in the world; yet, the Bible says that Jesus calls His people into just one flock or church. With such a large body of churches, it becomes virtually impossible to fully examine the doctrines of them all. How, then, is one to find the true church? And, does God really have one today?

1.   Does Christ have a church?

“Christ also loved the _________, and gave himself for it...that he might present it to Himself a __________ church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing,” (Eph. 5:25, 27).

2.   Who heads this church?

“And ____ is the head of the body, the church” (Col 1:18).

3.   What is the foundation of this church?

“And are built upon the foundation of the __________ and ________, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord,” (Eph. 2:20).

4.   How many churches does Christ have?

“And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be _____ flock and one shepherd,” (John 10:16, NKJV).

Literally, "one flock." The reading "fold" has no support in any Greek manuscript and was introduced by Jerome. Some commentators suggest that there are many folds in which the one flock belongs. This view, however, is not supported.

Jesus says that He has many sheep in other folds and that He will call them into His ONE true flock. He says that the proof that they belong to Him will be that they will leave their folds and join His flock.

5.   What is one of the major hallmarks of this church?

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that _____ the _____________ of God, and the faith of Jesus,” (Rev. 14:12).

This includes the SEVENTH day Sabbath, because it is part of the God's Ten Commandments. (Exo. 20:8-11, John 14:15, Rev. 22:14). While God's true church keep His commandments, the other churches will violate them (Eze. 22:26).

6.   Will this church be a local church only?

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every _______, and ________, and ________, and people,” (Rev. 14:6).

The church must be part of a worldwide body.

7.   What three part message does it preach?

- God’s judgment has come and worship the creator.

- Spiritual Babylon is fallen so come out of her.

- Don’t worship the beast or you’ll receive his mark.

(See Rev. 14:6-14).

8.   What will this church do until Christ returns?

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to ________  ____  ________ whatsoever I have commanded you,” (Matt. 28:19, 20).

9.   How does one joint this church?

“For by one Spirit are we all ________ into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free” (1 Cor. 12:13).

10.  Are you willing to become part of God’s end-time true church?
